I find I have to do at least 5 hours strenuous exercise a week to keep myself in good health, though you might find you have to do more or less exercise then me! Everyone’s different, and, while its obvious exercise is good for your physical health, its also beneficial for your mental health.
You may want to get some exercise but feel like the gym is too expensive or you struggle to motivate yourself.
To help you I have listed some activities you can do, to make exercise more fun and easier to motivate yourself to get off the couch.
Buy an app, sometimes apps can motivate you to exercise as you can see how many calories you are burning or they can reward you for your hard work by awarding you points. I use mydietcoach as it is such fun. You have an avatar which if you get a certain amount of points in the day you can are rewarded with virtual clothes. But find one that suits you.
Make plans to do exercise with a friend, which will motivate you further.
Go for a bike ride, you can now use apps to plan a bike ride such as google maps or the ordnance survey app. The ride will be much more pleasant if you go on road
In the winter it can be difficult to motivate yourself to go outside so invest in some waterproof clothes and take a hike into your nearest park or footpath. Again I recommend you use the ordnance survey map/apps.
Buy some weights or do yoga at home with a friend.
Clean your house. Cleaning your house can be quite vigorous and can make you feel psychologically better as well. Its far better then sitting on the couch.
Put on some great music and dance around with family or friends. Its great fun!
Replace driving your car or public transport with walking or cycling if you can. This will also release endorphins so when you get to work you’ll start the morning on a buzz!
